Artificial Intelligence in modern mobility.

In recent times Artificial Intelligence (AI) is the word on everyone’s lips.  We are witnessing the technology giants, Google and Microsoft, fights over to put their authority in AI over one other, by providing top of the line AI features to the users.

There are numerous debates are on about the positive negative effects of Artificial intelligence. Many experts from all around in the modern digital world sharing their viewpoints and expertise on various platforms, both print and digital, on this gigantic evolution of technology advancement in the human era. Some are very excited with the benefits AI brings on the table while others are furious, worried, and alarmed about the negative impacts.

In a bid to compete with Microsoft in the lucrative search ads industry google has announced plans to test advertisement in generative AI search results. It is a significant step in their ongoing battle for supremacy in the AI arena.

Machine learning makes Artificial Intelligence possible.  It’s rapidly advancing and expanding fields with application in a variety of industries, including, health care, retail, transportation, aviation, and automobile to name a few.

AI can analyse large amount of data and identify patterns in the data that may indicate clues for future actions. AI and machine learning has an infinite potential in many areas of business that we can think of using technology at their forefront.

Apparently In the automotive arena AI is not only changing the cars on the road, but the factories that build them and the process for repairing them. AI has already cemented its presents and being revolutionising key features of modern vehicles time to time aiming to provide immense safety and ease of commute to millions of commuters worldwide.

As per research a total of more than $100 billion has been invested in automotive artificial intelligence since 2010 including non-automotive technology companies, targeting autonomous driving and in-vehicle experiences.

Vehicle manufacturers use AI in just about every facet of the car making process. Artificial intelligence and machine language has already been made tremendous advancements in various sectors of this industry; few of those key areas are: –

1. Process optimization

Minimizing cost and maximizing profits are the common goals of process optimization. AI and machine learning helps the automotive industry by; –

  1. Predictive maintenance: – By applying advanced analytics to real time data and using the resultant insights to inform educated, cost effective, and efficient maintenance protocol to prevent equipment failure and downtime.
  2. Automated quality checking: -AI System can capture more data and accurate measurements on complex parts in high throughput production lines.
  3. Robotics in manufacturing: -Today mostly robots are used in manufacturing operations to take on repetitive, menial tasks such as material handling and assembly workflow to improve productivity, performance, and quality. In almost all the automobile manufacturing facilities are using industrial robots thus offers the manufacturers greater consistency and better quality when performing repetitive tasks.
2. Autonomous Driving (AD)

A vehicle that can travel without human driver been only possible with machine leaning and vision.  AI can process a mixture of sensors, radar, GPS, laser beams and camaras monitor road conditions to operate and navigate traffic.

3. In vehicle experiences

In addition to the features like emotion recognition and voice assistants AI Can provide driving analysis and real-time alerts to warn drivers of possible dangers like lane departure, forward collisions and driving conditions. It can also provide rates on driving skills and help drivers alter bad behaviours and habits.

4. Safety

Tesla uses AI feature like Autopilot when it comes to car safety that enables automatic steering, acceleration, braking, lane changing and parking intended for use with a fully attentive driver, who has their hands on the wheel and is prepared to take over at any moment.

5. Collision avoidance

AI provides intelligent driver system which reduces distracted driving that leads to collisions by assessing driver behaviour. These systems use data to keep drivers attentive enough to avoid collisions and traffic violations.

As the battle between Microsoft and google escalates, it is evident that both the companies are committed to pushing the boundaries of AI technology and its applications. With more players emerging in the AI platform day by day users can anticipate ground-breaking advancements in the way they use AI in their daily lives.

On the flip side, mobility is an ever-evolving industry that is revolutionizing the way we move from A to B, with new habits, applications and technologies that bring challenges and opportunities.
